Gwinnett commissioners OK 'Project Rocket' distribution center that could create 1,800 jobs06/19/2018 | Atlanta Business Chronicle
The Gwinnett County Commission has OK'd a large distribution center near Stone Mountain, Ga., that is expected to create up to 1,800 jobs.
The development dubbed "Project Rocket" is a proposed 2.5 million-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Gwinnett that emerged as a favorite to land Amazon.
Gwinnett County commissioners approved the center Tuesday, the Gwinnett Daily Post reported.
The distribution center would be four stories tall and have 2.5 million square feet of space on West Park Place Boulevard. The facility sits on the Gwinnett-DeKalb county line. Gwinnett was asked for a building height variance to 80 feet, and DeKalb’s permission was needed for a truck driveway.
The development is projected to have 1,806 parking spaces, along with 200 truck parking spaces and 65 loading dock doors on two sides.
